If You're Not Helping, You're Hurting

School leaders tell students this
​for obvious reasons,

Yet...

Those same leaders may be guilty of  "not helping."

They avoid the hallways
where your "roamers"
spend their days
& where unexpected behaviors
are on full display.

They assign you recess & dropoff
& lunchroom duty & keep it off of their schedules.
They allow demanding parents to challenge you
outside of their presence.

They ignore requests
for critical resources
necessary to teach successfully.

They direct custodians
to deliver boxes (and boxes)
of texts to your classroom
Without providing
any professional development.

You see,
leaders don't have to
criticize or gaslight
or intimidate or micromanage
their teachers
to be a hinderance,
​not a help.

This can be done by hiding in the office.
Leaving you hanging.
Making unilateral decisions.
Dodging problematic parents.

Principals & APs-- Be visible.

Respond to requests.
Solicit teacher input.
Protect teachers.

"Because if you are not helping, you are hurting."
